Motor sport stars race ahead with Jubilee® Clips

Motor sport stars race ahead with Jubilee® Clips

Leading automotive industry supplier Jubilee® Clips is doing its bit to support up-and-coming stars of motor sport.

The Gillingham-based manufacturer backs locally-based rally ace Louise Cook, who has made a flying start to her first season in the Production World Rally Car series, which entails competing throughout Europe and as far away as New Zealand!  The 24-year-old has already won the British Ladies’ Rally Championship and is now racing against international rivals on the world stage, in her Ford Fiesta ST.  Earlier this year she scored a magnificent second place in her class at the Monte Carlo Rally, and will soon depart for the Rally of Italy.

“Although I’m competing in a different class, these are the same events as the World Rally Championship, so I’m rubbing shoulders with people like Sebastian Loeb,” says Louise, who lives in Maidstone. “He’s always been a hero of mine and has even given me a few tips, which is great.

“Unfortunately, unlike drivers on the main factory teams, I have to raise all my own funding, so the support of Jubilee® Clips is absolutely invaluable. Their products are great too – my car is fitted throughout with Jubilee® hose clips and it’s great to know they’ll never let me down.”

Jubilee® Clips is also supporting Rochester-based Lee Gambell, who race in the 750 Motor Club’s Toyota MR2 Championship. The company provided Lee with a pack of its products and tools, which came in very handy when he rebuilt his car’s engine ready for the start of the 2012 racing season.

‘Local lad’ Lee’s sponsorship request struck a chord with Jubilee® Clips’ Joint Managing Director Ian Jennings and Marketing Executive Suzanne Barnard, because both owned and enjoyed MR2 sports cars in the past.  “For an amateur driver like me having the backing of Jubilee® Clips is a real boost,” says Lee. “It’s great to be supported by a local company that is also such a well-known brand in the motor industry – and at the same time I know I don’t need to worry about any of my hose clips failing!”

Future stars of motor sport have also received a boost in the form of supplies of Jubilee® Clips and tools, as the company is once again backing UBRacing, the University of Birmingham Formula Student Team – Formula Student is a competition for University teams to design, build, develop and race their own racing cars.

Jubilee® Clips’ parent company L Robinson & Co was founded by Commander Lumley Robinson RN – Ian Jennings’ great-grandfather – who took out the patent on his original worm drive hose clip in 1921; it is now widely acknowledged as a design classic.
